Welcome to Paideia Cub and Boy Scout Pack 787!
We are looking forward to a fun, exciting and educational year. We have a lot of wonderful family events planned for the boys and their adult partners. To help you prepare for this Scouting year in Pack 787, we have put together some points of interest that should help explain some of the terminology, events, and expectations that have come to be part of the Paideia Scout Family. The Paideia Scout family consists of a Cub Scout pack and Boy Scout troop. The Cub pack is for boys in 1st through 5th grades and the Scout troop is for boys in 6th through 8th grades. The pack is divided into dens – Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos – and the troop is divided into patrols of 5 to 6 boys each.
Den and troop meetings are held once a week on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 7:00PM. Pack Meetings are typically held once a month and Courts of Honor are held once a quarter. All cub and troop meetings are at Paideia Academy, 7777 S. 15th Terrace, Phoenix 85042. Times may vary between the pack and the troop but are generally from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Pack Meetings and Courts of Honor are where upcoming events are announced and belt loops, merit badges and Rank Achievements are awarded. Families are highly encouraged to attend all pack meetings and Courts of Honor.

Our Pack/Troop is dependent on Dues, Fundraisers and Donations to cover patches, merit badges, rank badges, beads, totems, pins, belt loops, trophies, metals, and advancement cards that each scout achieves throughout the year, in addition to providing supplies, covering costs for activities, and decorations and food for special events. All dues are due at the first Den/Troop meeting of the month. Unpaid dues may restrict the activities of the scout.
Pay by credit or debit card at Paideia Academy South Phoenix or make checks payable to Paideia Academies Inc. In the memo section write “Boy Scout” or “Cub Scout” depending on age of your scout. We will also have fundraisers, that not only will help provide funds for our Pack/Troop expenses, but a portion is credited to the participating Scout’s account to help reduce his costs for camps and/or fees.
Needed Materials & Uniform Requirements
Rank Appropriate Handbook A rank appropriate handbook will be essential for the boys to fulfill their full potential as Cub and Boy Scouts. For the boys to make rank advancements they will need to complete the requirements in their books and have each achievement signed off by their Den Leader or Scout Master. The Den Leader and Scout Master will then report advancement milestones to the Committee and achievement awards will be handed out at a following Pack Meeting or Court of Honor. Handbook prices range from about $8.00 to about $15 depending on rank. Handbooks are available to purchase at Paideia Academy or at the Scout Store.
Scout Uniforms Pack 787 does not require a full head-to-toe Cub or Boy Scout uniform. A minimum Class A uniform would be comprised of a rank appropriate Cub Scout, Webelos, or Boy Scout shirt with all required patches (World Crest, Unit Numerals 787, and Council Shoulder Patch), a rank appropriate neckerchief, and rank appropriate neckerchief glide. Items such as a Cub Scout or Boy Scout hat are optional and not required. Shirt prices are around $30.00, patches are around $9.00, and neckerchief and glide come up to around $14.00. Cub Scout belts ($10.00) are optional, but are useful for displaying Academic/Sports Belt Loop awards. Webelos and Boy Scouts also need shoulder loops ($4.00). Webelos can display their achievement pins on either their hat or Webelos Colors ($6.00).
