The American Academy Of Pediatrics On Spanking Children: Don’t Do It, Ever.

Nearly every school-day morning over the past 7 years I have greeted scholars and parents at the gate. I try to greet them with enthusiastic love to make them feel connected and loved at Paideia. Far too frequently I greet a child who is crying or head down and sad. I ask, “hey, what’s going on, why are you sad?”  The child will respond that their caregiver – parent, grandparent, foster parent – yelled or spanked them. I hug the child even closer and let them know that we love them and sometimes adults get a little cranky.

I am a parent of 5 grown adults. Raising them was a challenge for me. Sometimes, the only thing I knew to do was give my growing child a good spanking.  If this is you, please listen to the following podcast from NPR.

Paideia Academy has services and workshops to assist parents in raising their children in a holistic way – body, mind, heart, spirit.
